A root canal procedure addresses an infection or growth of bacteria in the base or root of the tooth. Not only does a root canal eliminate the infection beginning to grow at the root of the tooth, but it also helps prevent the spread of the infection into the tooth itself. What Can I Expect During My Root Canal Procedure?

Your root canal will be performed by Dr. Jammal and his expert dental team in our comfortable office. Before your root canal begins, Dr. Jammal will administer local anesthetic to your treatment area. Once the area is numb, a dental dam may be applied to keep your tooth clean throughout your procedure. Dr. Jammal will then begin to clear decayed and diseased portions of your tooth. Once the entire root, inside, and outside of the tooth is clean, the openings made in the teeth will be filled with composite resin. As a result of the root canal, teeth often become brittle, so protection of the treated tooth with a dental crown is recommended to ensure longevity.  This crown will match the natural look and feel of your tooth. This entire treatment process may take more than one visit to complete. Dr. Jammal will be happy to walk you through the details of your root canal during your visit.
