What are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns, also simply called crowns or caps, are custom-made caps that cover the entire natural tooth when the tooth is too decayed or damaged to support normal function. Crowns are a common procedure among patients who need to restore their teeth for both comfort and aesthetics. Dr. Jammal and his team of dental experts may recommend you receive crowns if your teeth are causing you severe pain and damage cannot be repaired with cosmetic or general dentistry services.
How Do I Know if I Need Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are typically recommended for the following concerns:
- Discomfort following a root canal
- Severely damaged or decayed teeth
- Teeth with large, failing fillings
- Misshapen or severely discolored teeth
- Restoring dental implants
- Supporting dental bridges
How are Dental Crowns Placed?
Your dental crowns will be placed by Dr. Jammal and his expert dental team in our comfortable office. Crown procedures typically requires two separate office visits. At the first visit, Dr. Jammal will numb your treated area to ensure you’re comfortable. Your tooth of concern will be reshaped, preparing it for the new crown. An impression will then be made of your tooth, so your new crown will fit tightly and comfortably. Dr. Jammal will place temporary crown over your tooth for usability and comfort while your permanent crown is being fabricated at our partnering lab. Once your permanent crown is made, you’ll return for a second office visit where your temporary crown will be removed and your new, permanent crown will be cemented into place.
How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost?
The cost of your dental crown will vary depending on the extent of treatment needed to help you achieve your healthiest smile. The best way to find out how much your dental crown will cost is to come in for a private appointment with Dr. Daniel Jammal. In addition to working with most insurance providers, we are happy to offer flexible financing options through CareCredit®, Wells Fargo, and an in-house Smile Club Loyalty Plan.
