What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are permanent tooth replacements that look and feel like natural teeth. Oftentimes if a tooth is damaged or decayed beyond repair, Dr. Jammal and his team will replace the tooth with a custom-made dental implant. These implants provide patients with the function they need from their teeth without having to sacrifice the aesthetics of their smile. These lifelong tooth replacements enhance our patients’ bone health as it is held in place by a prosthetic, titanium root that is anchored to the bone in the way a natural tooth is. 

Types of Dental Implants

At Buffalo General Dentistry, our implant dentistry team in Amherst is proud to offer Biohorizons dental implants for the following solutions:

1. Dental Crowns

When placing an individual tooth, the implant will have a single porcelain crown placed over it. Implant crowns look and feel just like our other types of porcelain dental crowns. Your new crown tooth is easy to care for and extremely durable – just brush and floss it like a natural tooth.

2. Implant Supported Bridges

If you need to replace multiple teeth at one time, a fixed implant retained bridge is an excellent option. Each end of this type of dental bridge is supported by a dental implant, allowing Dr. Jammal to provide a prosthesis that replaces more teeth than a traditional dental bridge.

3. Permanent Implant Denture

As a part of our implant dentistry practice in Amherst, we offer a permanent implant denture, known as “All-on-4” or “All-on-6”. This denture is a great option for patients who want to permanently replace all of their teeth at one time. Placing a denture over your implants can provide you with added stability, enhanced comfort, and improved function.
