Sleep apnea can be a dangerous and frustrating condition to have, but it can also be treated with the help of Dr. Jammal at our Amherst dental clinic. In our office, Dr. Jammal can assess your symptoms and determine whether a sleep study is necessary and prescribe one as needed. If a sleep study has already happened, our office can design a sleep appliance to allow patients to sleep comfortably without the need for a CPAP machine. Using Silent NiteⓇ technology, a custom made sleep appliance fits comfortably in patients mouth while they sleep, propping the jaw forward allowing the airway to be opened up, creating a more restful sleep.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder in which breathing is stopped and restarted continuously throughout the night. In some cases, sleep apnea can be very dangerous. This is because breathing can stop for longer periods of time without the patient noticing. In addition to being dangerous, sleep apnea can cause disrupted periods of sleep and cause patients to be fatigued throughout the day. Even more concerning are the medical consequences of untreated sleep apnea which include increased risk of stroke, hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. While there are many different factors that cause sleep apnea including obstruction of the airways, Dr. Jammal at our dental clinic in Amherst is proud to offer his patients an assessment to help with a healthier sleep.

Dr. Jammal is board-certified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He expertly walks patients through the treatment process, from identifying risk factors for sleep apnea and scheduling sleep testing, to fabricating an Silent NiteⓇ oral appliance for sleep apnea treatment for our Amherst patients. This appliance props the jaw forward, allowing the airway to stay open during sleep. The appliance ultimately treats the condition and replaces the need to use a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine.

From the moment you walk through the door, the entire staff treats you with the utmost respect, kindness, and compassion. You can tell they genuinely care about your comfort and your overall dental health not just getting you in and out the door. They take the time to thoroughly explain every treatment plan, review your options with complete transparency, and make sure you understand exactly what to expect. That level of honesty and attention is hard to find. Today I had to have a tooth extracted, and I can honestly say it was the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Dr. Jammal is incredibly gentle and has an amazing bedside manner. I’ve never had another dentist numb me with Novocaine the way he did. Usually when a dentist says..Just a little pinch. It’s not just a tiny pinch lol but!! With Dr. Jamal, that “tiny pinch” was actually just a tiny pinch. I barely felt it. Before I knew it, my tooth was out. The entire process was quick, smooth, and painless. Throughout the procedure, he constantly checked on me and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way.
His dental hygienist was equally amazing so gentle, patient, and thorough. You can tell everyone on the team genuinely enjoys what they do.
And his dental assistant brought such positive energy into the room! Her charisma and personality instantly made me feel more relaxed and comfortable.
