What is Implant Restoration?

The dental implants from our Amherst clinic are permanent tooth replacements that look and feel like natural teeth. Oftentimes if a tooth is damaged or decayed beyond repair, Dr. Jammal and his team will replace the tooth with a dental implant. These implants provide patients with superior function without sacrificing aesthetics.  These lifelong tooth replacements are anchored to the bone in the way a natural tooth is.  Additionally, when a dental implant is placed, it stops the process of bone loss which occurs when a natural tooth is pulled. 

Types of Dental Implants

We proudly use the foremost manufacturer of dental implants, Biohorizons, because we want our patients to have ‘the best’. Biohorizons is a company known for innovation, high quality, and proven success. All Biohorizon implant components are made in the U.S. Some of the Biohorizons implants we use in the office include:

Conventional implants. These implants are considered the gold standard from dental implants. Conventional implants replicate the size of a natural tooth root.

Mini Implants. Dr. Jammal and his team generally reserve these implants for the select few patients who do not have adequate bone for conventional implants and may require them to stabilize a denture. 

Immediate implants. If the patient’s bone structure permits, we can often place the dental implant the same day a tooth is being extracted. This shortens the patient’s total treatment time and reduces the total number of procedures needed to go from a broken tooth to the finished implant-supported crown.  

Dental Crowns 

When placing an individual tooth, the implant will have a single porcelain crown placed over it. Implant crowns look and feel just like our other types of porcelain  crowns used at our Amherst clinic. Your new crown tooth is easy to care for and extremely durable – just brush and floss it like a natural tooth.

Implant-Supported Bridges

If you need to replace multiple teeth at one time, a fixed implant retained bridge is an excellent option. Each end of this type of dental bridge is supported by a dental implant, allowing Dr. Jammal to provide a prosthesis that replaces more teeth than a traditional dental bridge.

Implant Retained Dentures

An implant-supported denture or overdenture, also commonly called an “All-on-4”  or “All-on-6” denture, is a great option for patients who want to permanently replace all their teeth at one time. Placing a denture over your implants can provide you with added stability, enhanced comfort, and improved function.
