What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a technique used to repair mild to moderate chips, cracks, and discoloration on the surface of the tooth. Similar to dental fillings, all the dental bonding at Buffalo General Dentistry with Dr. Jammal is done using composite resin that matches the natural color and texture of the tooth enamel. Dr. Jammal may recommend tooth bonding in the event you have one or two teeth that are:

  • Chipped or cracked
  • Uneven in length
  • Exposing the root
  • Discolored or stained

If you have several teeth that need to be addressed with bonding, Dr. Jammal may recommend dental veneers instead. While dental bonding is less invasive, veneers are a longer-lasting and provide the same natural-looking results.

How is Dental Bonding Performed?

Your dental bonding will be performed by Dr. Jammal and his expert dental team in our comfortable office. To begin, Dr. Jammal will gently condition your tooth enamel. This opens up the tooth’s pores so that the composite material can bond very closely with your natural tooth. Dr. Jammal will then shape the composite resin into the appropriate form, so that it fills in any aesthetic discrepancies. A bright light will then hold over the bonding material for a few seconds to cure it in place. Once your bonding appointment is complete, you’ll be able to show off your beautiful, flawless teeth.
